The Turquoise Dream demands constant attention everywhere it goes. From it's eye-catching color to it's melodic exhaust note, it's sure to garner compliments from passers by every time it's driven. This car serves as our R&D test mule for the 991.2 platform. We decided to go with a base 991.2 Carrera for a few reasons.
- It's the most common 911, and it's the car that most of our customers will have.
- For this generation, the base, S, and GTS all share the same 3.0L H6 motor (only with larger turbos on the upgraded trims), so we decided that splurging for a higher trim may not be worthwhile if we end up upgrading the turbos anyway.
- The lower cost of the car will free up money for more modifications.
This is a real driver's car, with a 7 speed manual and rear-wheel drive. It began life as a white car, but has been skillfully wrapped by the crew over at Fine Lines Wraps in Hainesport, NJ. The vinyl is called Turquoise Dream by Inozetek, and while photos can't properly capture the color, it's absolutely jaw dropping in person. The finish of the vinyl is so smooth that people can't believe it's not paint, and it's protected by a ceramic coating from @detailgurunj.
The 3.0TT motor serenades onlookers through a set of SOUL Performance high flow cats mated to a SOUL exhaust with helmholtz style anti-drone tubes. This combination makes noise when the time is right, but still lets you cruise without unwanted noise.
The Cobb Accessport was our tuning platform of choice on this car, since it allows us to dial in and custom-tailor the tune for this specific car. With nothing but the exhaust and tune, this car enjoys 27% more power and torque over the factory setup. Be sure to check on the progress of this as we add more modifications over time.
In stock form, this car baselined the quarter mile with a 12.9 @ 111mph
With a SOUL exhaust, high flow cats, and SpeedCircuit tune, it went 12.2 @ 120mph, a massive gain of .7s and 9mph!
Stay tuned for more results.
